We are a leading research and teaching institution in a wide range of disciplines, conducting world-leading research in engineering, computer science and medicine, and 24 of our disciplines were rated 5 or 5* in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE).
We have over 16,000 undergraduates, including nearly 800 part-time students in nursing and education and over 3,000 mature students, and we are proud to take 83% of our students from state schools.
