QUICK FACTS
WHO WE ARE
We provide fire and rescue services for our community, including prevention and protection. We aim to work in partnership to make Dorset safer.
MORE ABOUT US
We have 26 stations operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We work closely with the community and our partners to provide a coordinated and cost-effective service. As well as frontline firefighters, we have many professionals working behind the scenes in important roles, which the public don’t see. We are working towards achieving ‘excellence’ in the Equality Framework. Our core role is to make Dorset safe and, if necessary, respond quickly and effectively to any emergency incident.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Our staff are positive about embracing change, eliminating discrimination and fostering good relations. We want people to work for us who come from different backgrounds and who reflect our community. To become a firefighter, you need to be physically fit, however enthusiasm, team spirit and ability to communicate are key. As a top 150 Stonewall employer, we drive sexual orientation equality at every opportunity and work closely with our gay staff network group and through a variety of media such as the intranet, leadership briefings and training.
